A blackened field that was the site of a gas explosion has become a local attraction and it is also now the scene of a car accident. The driver in one car was killed and his wife was hurt when they drove to the area to look at the scene. The car accident happened on Wednesday morning.

their car made a U-turn on 142nd into the path of a pickup and was broadsided, Allegan County sheriff's officials said. Police said the couple had stopped their car on the side of the road near 28th Street to survey the damage from the pipeline explosion.

The driver of the pickup truck was not hurt in the accident. The car the couple was in did not have seatbelts as it was an older model vehicle. No parking signs have been posted along the site of the explosion to discourage people from stopping there.
